I want to get into a good college but I only had a 2.8 GPA my freshman and Sophmore year.?
I live in South Carolina and I had a gpa of 2.8 my first two years of high school, and I had a 3.2 my junior year. I hope to have at least a 3.5 by the end of this year. Can I still get into a good state funded college like South Carolina or Clemson. (by the way I have pretty impressive extracurricuals) I am in advanced classes (not AP) with the exception of Math which I am in an OGL level Algerbra 2 class. Even though I meet the requirements to go to college I would liked to have that 4th math credit.
I really want to get into a good college and I hope my stupidity as a freshman has not screwed this up for me.
Is going to tech then transfering a better option for me? Thanks a lot I appreciate it!

Score high on your ACT or SAT, whichever you’ll need to take. Most colleges will overlook a small GPA discrepancy if you have high testing scores.

Definitely apply to Clemson and South Carolina if that’s where you want to go. Upward trends are always better than the same GPA with a flat or downward trend. If you do well on the ACT you should have a pretty good chance. Those schools aren’t as selective as some other top state schools. If you don’t get in, go to a community college, then transfer. Definitely keep both options open, if you’d prefer a community college, then Clemson or USC over one of the less selective South Carolina state schools. College of Charleston is also quite good, too, though.
