I want to be the person who reads the H.I.V, results?

It completely depends on where you live! So, it is very hard to answer your question accurately.
Normally you would have to have a background in counselling or nursing. I would ask your local sexual health clinic what they require….some require a nursing degree, while others require counselling degree. Where I am from it is possible to be trained as a phlebotomist (a person who can legally draw blood) and get training in Pre and Post Test HIV Counselling. Though it is useful to have training and a deep understanding of HIV disease and the issues that surround it.
My advice is to get a nursing degree and focus on Public Health (it is by far –in my opinion — the most interesting field that nurses can specialize in). With that you can apply for a job with your local Public Health department. There you can work on the frontlines of HIV and other STIs.
I would strongly advise you to call your local testing site and ask them about the qualifications needed in your area to be sure that you are getting what you need.
It is a great field to be involved in. It is challenging, rewarding, and very different day to day. And unfortunately it is a field that doesn’t seem to be slowing down any! It certainly keeps you on your toes!
Ps. It’s a little more complicated than just reading the results, but I’m sure you are aware of that!
