Does anyone know if GMAT is a hard test?

Any suggestions to prepare for it?

Took it, 91%tile. It’s hard but if you do enough practice you’ll have no problems. I know it sounds lame but practice is the only way to get good at it…

Suggest you get the princeton review prep book and the Kaplan books, do ALL of the problems. The more you do them the easier it is to get into the mode of thinking required, esp for their quantitative problems.

Well get a book for one. The verbal isn’t too hard. But the math has an insane section where they give you two pieces of data and a problem and say, “A is needed to solve the problem, B is needed to solve the problem, A and B are both needed to solve the proble, A or B by themselves are enough for the problem, Neither A nor B will solve the problem” I was a straight A student and got a 590 which sucked, but I still got into grad school.

I thought it was pretty easy.

It is similar to the SAT. I didn’t prepare at all. I just walked in & took it. Most people take practice tests & might take a review course.

If you got over 1400 (out of 1600) on your SAT — don’t waste your money on a review course. If you didn’t do that well — or if you haven’t done simple math problems for a while — then a review may help you.

As you can probably gather from the answers you’ve gotten so far, it varies from person to person. (I like the data sufficiency questions better than the regular math problems, personally.) I’d recommend starting at www.mba.com: you can download a couple of free practice tests and problem sets there. Once you’ve gotten a sense of your strengths and weaknesses from those, you can plan your review strategy accordingly.

Yes, it is hard. Buy the study books for it and pray that it works. If you’re rich, buy yourself into the prep courses.
