I’ve heard that college is better and more relaxing than high school?

Is it true? In what ways?

college is better, but it is NOT more relaxing. I’m a freshman, and even though I’m intelligent (I have a full ride through academics) I still have to study a lot, get help from other students with more experience, read all the time, etc. Studying takes more time than you realize, and classes move much faster. Also, most college students are somewhat on their own financially, which equals a job. Between school, a job, homework, and whatever you get involved in on campus, you have ZERO free time.

That said, college is fun. The teachers are interesting, people are friendly, there is always something goin on or someone to do stuff with, you make your schedule and aren’t forced to be in class the same time everyday.

But, the only way college is more relaxing is if you go to a really easy, not hard school

Once you get half way through your second year then yes, it is very good. One reason is that you are not treated like a prisoner. You are there because you want to not because you are obligated. You can choose not to agree with the teacher. It may not end well but they can’t give you detention. Remember you are paying them. #2 After the second year the people who are there are the people who really want to be there. The first year get rid of the people who don’t really belong there in the sense that they are not ready for it or is just isn’t their thing. In the second year they get rid of people who are in the wrong mayor. That is half way through the second year the people in your class will be the people who are pretty sure that what they are studying is what they want as a career. #3 It is great to be studying something you really want to learn. When the knowledge given interest you then it is not so much of a burden.

There are also cons to college too. More work load. You are responsible for yourself. You have to come up with tuition money. etc etc but yeah! wwwwaaaayyyyyyyyyyy better than high school. Also, remember that at this age people are considered adults which has their own implications. For example, a bully in high school may be suspended for a few days or given some detention. A bully in college may be punisheable by law and very likely expulse from the school. Plus they may not be able to join another school so there is some incentive to not be a bully.

Better, but not more relaxing. You have to be more disciplined than in highschool. In highschool, your teachers held your hand and told you what you needed to accomplish what was expected of you. They told you how and what to study. In college, you have to use your own judgment, listen closely in class, and study everything, because ANYTHING can show up on a test or a sudden pop quiz.

College can bring lots of other temptations in your way that could lead you to abandoning your studies, etc. You’re now considered an adult and professors? Don’t give a crap about your personal problems. Who cares if you were sick? You didn’t turn in your paper and you get a failing grade.

College, however, can be the best time of your entire life. You are discovering who you are, meeting tons of new friends, and learning things that you will take with you for the rest of your life.

Don’t be intimidated by the speech on school work and studies — it’s not all about that. Just know that those parts ARE serious, so don’t blow them off. 🙂

In my case yes, first about the schedule, in college you don’t need to to to school as early as 7:30 in the morning it depends on your schedule, One more thing if you are leaving away from your parents you, there is no so much pressure. As long as you study your lesson you have not to worry about your grades, there is no so much competition when it comes to honors, unlike high schoo. Not so boring because you will not be meeting your teachers every day. Although I had a wonderful memories of my high school days, but full of pressures, College days for me is also enjoyable and relaxing.

Yes and no. College is a place to learn about new people, new enviorment and learn the reality of the real world. You are basically on your own, watching yourself develope little by little into a intellgigant, mature, young adult. It’s cool that you can pick out the time and day for your classes, its just a little more demanding on the homework and less time for sleep.

It’s more extreme then high school. You’ll have weeks where you can “relax”, then you’ll have weeks where you’ll be loaded down with work. It’s less structured then high school too. Most professors don’t take attendance, you decide your class schedule, etc.
