I need career help!!!!?

I want to be a special ed teacher, but I have found that I’m paying for college all by myself, and I would have to attend a college that is an hour and a half away to finish on time. The school is also twice as much as where I am now attending! I could (I think I can switch back) go back to the early childhood pre-k through 3rd grade bachelor’s degree, and it would be a whole lot cheaper, plus I can continue a comfortable drive there at 25 minutes. The thing is though I hear it’s harder to find a job with the early childhood degree. My husband and I are willing to move if that is better, but I just can’t stand to know that even if I could get extra loans to help pay the increase, I’ll be in a lot of debt when I graduate. I haven’t been able to eat or sleep right for days now because of this. I’m really at a crossroads, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Schools are desparate for Special Education teachers. They will very often hire you with out having fufilled the requirements, especially if you are willing to get some post-grad credits in special ed.

I would definitely stay where you are. A teacher’s salary does not pay enough to ve saddled with loans! Special Ed is a very difficult field – I admire you for wanting to do this. Get your degree ASAP at the closest college. You can always return for more credits. Plus, often the state & community colleges offer deep tuition discounts to active teachers.
