I’m worried about getting into college! Read Further.?

I’m in tenth grade right now, but i go to a school where they are really foucused on college prepratory. We are a highly recognized school, so i feel allot of pressure to get into college.

I have around a 2.78 GPA. I’ve been in key club, voulenteer clubs, and have done allot of work on our school plays, I am advertising exec. for our school newspaper, and I have coreographed some dances within our school dance team.

However, i’m REALLY worried about getting into college. Will my schools reputation help out my applications? And how do you think i will do when applying to colleges?

anything helps, thanks!

Well, first of all your GPA needs some work. a 3.5 is usually where good schools start accepting. Your in the 10th grade, so you should have time to get it up, just start working hard. Secondly, focus on geometry, becuase SAT scores are important and geometry is what got me (I got out of taking it, big mistake). But i’m naturally good at english, so im not sure if those sections were hard for other people or not.

Lastly, a few good recommendation letters from teachers are excellent advantages to have when putting in college applications.

Just work hard, and try not to stress out too much.

Your GPA is too low. Concentrate on getting your grades up. If you get a chance to attend a high school with an IB (International Baccalaureate) program in Grades 11 & 12, do so.

Well, its not like you won’t be able to get into ANY college. But if you want to get into a good college, you probably need to pull your GPA up to 3.0. It sounds like you’ve got lots of good extra-curricular experience, so don’t be so focused on that. Keep one or two activities that are really important to you, but start to put more focus on your grades. There’s got to be some way to improve on those.
