I’m thinking about a career in journalism, but I’m afraid I won’t have a good job when I graduate college.

I’m a freshman at Rutgers university and I love broadcast journlasim but I want to double major with something else that will gaurantee a well paying job. I was thinking about communications but I’m not sure. I also want to go to graduate school but I’m not sure what I’d study there. Please help. What is a good major to focus on with journalism?

If you take business courses (if they will allow a double major) then you will be in good shape to leverage your journalism degree for corporate marketing or public relations. I would also be sure to take plenty of writing courses (not sure what broadcast journalism entails). I would think that communications and broadcast journalism would be redundant.

I think that internships are really important these days when it comes to getting a job in journalism after college. Be sure to work this angle.

I am feeling that he really cares about you and just wants what is best for you and him. He wants to be the best for you and have your family like him. This is no big deal or rocket science, just love each other and continue with the long distance relationship. I have a cousin who lives here in south texas, she had a long distance relationship with a guy from alberta canada. The only thing they had was talking on the phone and after three years of dating each other and seeing each other twice a year they FINALLY got married last year. Things can happen only if you BOTH want them too! Good luck girlie!

If you double major in something like political science, you can be a politics writer. Or major in a field of science and be a journalist in that field. Just double major in something you’re passionate about because that means you’ll be paid well to write about it.

Good luck.
