Trust me, I took time off and it was nearly 10 years after high school when I went back and did it, and it was only because of EXTREME LUCK that my life allowed me to do that.

Try to leave your dog at either of your parents’ homes for one year, so you can live in a dorm get used to college and the huge changes that comes with it, see your dog on weekends or holidays, and then take it with you your second year.

You say you have a dog now, so it lives with at least one of your parents now. Please consider living without it for one year. A university year really isn’t that long anyway; it’s four months of school, 2 months off, four months on 2 months off. You can be with it during the breaks.

leave the dog at home, spend a year in a dorm room, make some good friends and rent an apartment w/ them for the folowing year. you really want to live in a dorm for atleast one year because you get the real college experience. when you actually get the apartment you can bring the puppy w/ you. i just finished my first year at college and i would have been miserable if i live off campus. i didnt have to fight w/ parking, everything was right on campus, i could have a mean plan (most of the time if you live off campus you cannot have a mean plan) and i made really awesome friends. and actually- almost my entire tuituon and fees is paid for by loans and scholarships, so whoever says they can’t afford college is wrong, getting loans are your best bet.

If I were you, I’d get a job first. Then have that employer pay for your college. If I had known then what I know now, I would have never wasted 4 years being so broke while working 2 jobs to pay for school. It depends upon where you live and where you want to go to school – smaller cities are more apt to have places that will allow pets. It also depends upon the size of the dog as well. How do you plan on paying for school? Loans just don’t cut it anymore.

They won’t let you live in the dorms with a dog. You’ll need to rent your own apt. That’s a lot of loans.
