How can I know which universities accept credits from different community colleges?

Do universitiesaccept community college credits from community colleges in different states? Is there a universal online college that is like a community college online that is acceptable by many universities? Thank you very much!

It’s going to depend on each individual college. You’ll have to talk to someone from admissions about it. Not all classes are universal. I had some friends who had associates degrees from a 2 year college, but when they went to another college to get their Bachelor’s Degree, some of their old classes didn’t transfer, because those classes didn’t cover everything that the 4 year college covered. It’s a case by case kind of thing.

Community colleges often have articulation agreements with large numbers of four-year schools which specify which out of their courses will be transferred in to fulfill which requirements. These will normally include all the public schools in state, and some other schools out of state.

I’m not sure what you’re second question is. I’m guessing you mean to ask whether there is some online community college whose credits are transferable to more or less whatever four year school you want. The best online schools, in terms of having transferable credits, are the online programs of respected universities which have campuses.

Regardless of delivery method (on ground, online, hybrid), a higher ed institution in the US can have 3 institutional accreditation statuses.

1. Regionally accredited – the highest and most useful.

2. Nationally accredited – real, but not as recognized or useful. Yes it is less than regional accreditation, which isn’t intuitive.

3. Unaccredited

Be sure to check here before you enroll: http://www.chea.org/search/

You can transfer credits “down” to a lower level accreditation, but “up” can be challenging.
