To find help, first talk to your child’s school and see if there are additional reading services they can offer (I’m assuming he’s already getting remedial reading.) Also, has he been classified as having a disability? If so, is he receiving special education services? If he isn’t, please ask the school about testing him and getting special education help. If he is already in special education, consider the fact that some students with severe reading disabilities will progress very slowly. He may just need time- the fact that he’s reading at a 2nd grade level shows that he’s made progress, he just needs continued work.
If all else fails, try contacting a local college that offers education/literacy and ask if any of the education students would be willing to tutor him. They would know how to help (or can ask their professors if they don’t) and can give him some extra practice once or twice a week.
With Children Learning Reading you may teach your child how to separate looks and break phrases into phonemes, an important point whenever your kid is simply learning to spell.
The examining program from Children Learning Reading program makes it easy for kids to learn rapidly and precisely, from easy phrases to phrases till they understand to read stories.
