I just bought a TI-83 Plus. Is that enough for college: engineer major?
I am going to be an aeronautical engineer major in college at UC Davis and they have not answered my question yet on what calculators they allow and I can only return it today because I need to open it so that I can review for the entrance exams. So I was wondering if that would be enough for all four years, or even if it’d just get me through the first two years. I want a calculator that can be used on tests and everything, preferrably not something that could be banned. Please help!!

go for a ti-89.
you will not regret it. i promise you. i am a high school student with a ti 89, and it helps me so much in calculus/physics classes. They have many many more functions for advanced calculus, post-calc, stats, electrical engineering, and even mechanical engineering.
you will be at a disadvantage to your fellow students with a ti-83.

That will be powerful enough, but it might be banned for tests. A lot of schools ban the use of any programmable calculators.
