I have been @ Devry for a yr. i am afraid I won’t be taken seriously once i grad. should I try a real school

I am going for a business degree and I am happy with what I have learned, but several of older my co-workers say that its not accredited and that I will be sorry in the long run. I have done a reasonable amount of research about that aspect and everywhere I have looked said it is accredited. Eventhough I have doubts that when I graduate I will not be taken seriously because I went to Devry and not Texas Tech, Brown, or some other well known college. should I just bite the bullet and finished what I started or cut my losses and try getting into a better school?

Think about where you want to be in five years. Ask yourself what you’ll need to get there. Offhand, I think you should finish this degree while you have the momentum – and because it sounds like you’re motivated to work hard at it. Switching schools might break your stride. If you want a more prestigious school, the background you are getting now might increase your chances of being admitted.

I am not going to debate about the cons and pros of attending Devry because I don’t know too much about it. But I am like the general public in that I doubt their real worth. Perhaps you can ask the question to a hiring manager or a human resources personnel.

You should find out if you do transfer, how much, if any, of your credit will transfer to a 4-year university. I am assuming you are going for a Bachelor’s, not an Associate’s.

Since 4-year universities want to see two year’s worth of classes, you may be starting over if none of your classes transfer. But what’s one more year compared to rest of your life? You only go to college once. Perhaps you can look at community colleges nearby with good transfer records. It wouldn’t hurt just to look.

finish. Devry helps you. You may want more schooling at another place… but all education is good.
