I have an associates degree in Human and Social Services. Anyone know of any decent paying jobs this will get?
Social work typically does not pay well. However, I have been out of the loop for a long time since graduating, and now I am wondering if maybe there would be something in private nusing homes, hospitals, etc. that this little degree might help me get into. It seems like nowadays everyone has a masters degree in something. Any ideas?

Social Work actually pays fairly well, but you do need the appropriate education to obtain true social work jobs. Unfortunately the AA in human service studies, only qualifies you for the most basic entry level positions. Nursing homes or other elder care programs are probably some of your best bets (they have a very high turnover rate and often have trouble finding qualified applicants. Other options are group homes, afterschool programs, youth recreation programs, small non-profit (homeless, food and related programs). All of these may have non BA or MA level positions. If you want to get into social work you will want to consider going for your BSW (you should be two years away from this). This would allow you to go on for your MSW (which you can do in a year as an advanced standing student).
