Perks are extra benefits. We use the word often to describe any extras we get from a job. For example, if I worked at the movie theatre, a “perk” may be getting to see movies for free.

It is the fringe benefit of something – an added bonus you might not get somewhere else.

For instance, a salesman for Company A might get his own company-paid-for car (a perk), while the salesman might have to provide his own wheels for the same job at Company B.

Perks can be deceptive though…responsibilities and demands of a job usually outweigh any benefits….typically the more perks, the more aggravation.

It means a benefit that results from your employment that is more than your regular salary. For example, a perk of being an airline pilot is that your family gets to fly standby for free.
