I have ADD and never received medication for it?

because of the long term risks attention deficit meds present. I’ve just arrived at college. I need some really good study habits and/or methods that will help me focus. I’ve noticed that the day after getting drunk I’m usually better at focusing, probably because of the brain cells I’ve killed. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you really have ADD be careful with the alcohol. You are much more likely to become an alcoholic than a person who does not have ADD.

Have you looked into the cause of you’re ADD? It could be something like food allergies, or other underlying causes.

Find the cause of you’re ADD, and then you can find the cure.

I suggest you join a support group or something.

Have you tried taking alternatives to ADD meds? I have heard EPA fish oils in high dosages can be very effective for ADD and similar coniditions – it is definitely good for helping concentration. I believe there have been several studies done into this which I will post in the source section below – but always speak to you’re doctor before starting anything new.

Good luck with you’re studies.

I have diagnosed as ADD at 35 years old,so I know nothing when I was in University.

As other person says, please be aware of Alcohol.

I feel you may already fell into addiction..I think, too, very similer to addiction.

Medication is much better than drink.but other way ADD students says in book are

-sit in front of professer when you’re attending class.

For me,

-I made tight schedule before exam, and now I think, not too long time for one class.(sorry for my English is no good)

-and,be careful not to get depression.(I got)have good warm friends and keep talking with them.

I also read ADDitude, helpful and they have website.

http://www.additudemag.com/index.html

They have many good article for students.

(My situation is a little diffrent,I am Japanese)

my son is adhd and what i find is a really a good routine helps he is only 8

im talking to the letter ie for him its a matter of alarm goes off get up get ready for school make breakfast etc and its a huge poster on his bedroom wall

when it comes to his homework all though its not the amount you will do

we have a timer we set it for 15mins he does his work for that length of time than we set the alarm for a 10min break and complete the cycle until its done

its the same for me i find it hard to stay focused even when it comes to housework i do the same thing if im going really well and staying focused i just reset it and keep going
