I have a huge test tomorrow, and still need to study. Am I better off sleeping a few hours or an all-nighter?

I’d say unless you still need to learn most of the material, you’d be better off sleeping. Having so little sleep screws up your ability to think and only makes the exam harder. If you don’t know the material, it’s probably best to face the music and try harder next time. But regardless, I think you’ll perform much better if you sleep and go in rested than if you force-feed yourself the material all night long.

Totally depends on what time your test is! Also, some people function better without sleep than others. Some people are fine pulling an all nighter now and then, while others will not be able to function without at least a little sleep.

If your test is late in the day, definitely sleep. If it’s early, then it’s your call. But personally, I’d balance it out by just scanning the material before going to bed, then sleep a couple of hours and get up early in the morning to scan the material again. That way you can at least get the basics of the stuff, as well as a little rest!

The best is to study a few hours then sleep for awhile and wake up to cram. If you pull an all nighter your brain tends to not work as well (in my experience). JUST MAKE SURE TO WAKE THE HELL UP. Also I have heard that information read before some sleep is imprinted to memory easier.

all nighter will make you tired when you will take the test. Just quit now, sleep, and then study. In psychology it is proven that learning 10 minutes before you sleep you will not remember it at all. When you’re tired your brain won’t be as efficient taking the test as well as memorizing.

Just do your best this time and then plan ahead…

Honestly, I think you should get some sleep. If you don’t know the material by now, you’re not really going to learn it all overnight. Get a good night’s sleep, then wake up tomorrow morning refreshed and ready to study before your exam. You’ll be more focused during the exam if you get some sleep tonight.

Good luck on your exam!

all-nighter for sure…the material is easy to regurgitate if you just finished looking at it…you can always sleep after the test…part of college is learning how to operate w/out sleep; practice all-nighters now, and be a pro by the time you must rely on them…

Sleep…for me there’s a certain point where I get to and I’ll be studying but nothing’s sticking…at that point it’s time to give up and rest. You need rest before a big exam, you need to relax. If you stay up all night you’ll be stressed and tired tomorrow….not good…go to sleep!! πŸ™‚ And good luck tomorrow πŸ˜‰
