Summer school marks are not considered equally when applying for University?? REALLY NEED HELPP!!!!!?

Hey guys

I am in grade 11 and i took grade 11 eng in summer school. My mark was a 90% and i heard from someone that universities think of a summer school mark lower than it is.

For example: 90% in summer school is considered as 80%

So basically i am asking if the universities look at summer school marks lower than normal school?

Please guys lemme know!!!!!!!!!!This is really scaring me

BTW i am from Canada, but i would really appreciate if ppl from the state would also give there opinion

Thanks a bunch

Hi, yes most colleges and universities look at summer school marks as lower than regular school b/c in summer school you do about 9 or 10 months of work in 5 weeks. You go over a lot of the same information as regular school but obviously in 5 weeks you can’t do the same stuff and cover it as in depth. If you are taking it to get ahead and not bc you failed it before most colleges will still look well upon the class. Depending on the college admissions essay, you could even talk about it in there and mention why you took it. If you did take it bc you failed, if it’s not a regular thing for you to fail classes, many colleges will overlook it, like I said before, you should probably mention reasons in your essay. (I.E if you were sick, family issues or whatever could have caused a lower grade, but I def. would NOT say anything bad mouthing the teacher in your essay!) Just make sure you work on keeping your grades up, get good teacher recommendations, write a good essay and you will be fine!! Good Luck! 🙂
