There will be people there older than you at university, I can promise you that. There are people that go back to get their degrees, people working on Masters and PhDs, people that worked a bit before starting higher education, and people in similar situations than you. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’m 32 years old and just finishing up my Master’s degree. You can imagine how old I feel sometimes.

I started University at 28. I am still working on my Masters Degree at 31, and I will be getting my PhD after, so I will be in school still for a while. I found that being older is not that difficult. Often, I was the oldest person in any class and sometimes I was older than the professors. Yikes! But there are many advantages to being older. People will often respect your real world experiences. Younger students, those just starting college, are often out on their own for the first time and they are struggling with their own problems as well. I think that you will find that you will be able to make friendships and establish good relationships with these students. Don’t underestimate their maturity just because they are teens. Also, many people may not even realize how old you are, so the only way they’ll know is if you tell them.

Don’t worry, you will be fine.

I am 30 and am a full-time grad student. There are people in my classes who are 50, and people who are 23. Education is not about guzzling beer, it is about bettering yourself and learning.

You might also consider making friends with the seniors who will be your age. On the other hand, I took an intensive class recently and took lunch with people who are 47, 30 and 24. We are in the same program with similar goals, so we have a lot in common already. I have more in common with this 47 year old that with another 30 year old who is studying something else. The younger people often look up to the older ones and realize they can learn a lot from them. Some of my older friends have a lot of work experience related to the field, which I find to be helpful, and some of my younger friends have a different and refreshing perspective. You will meet people, for example, who are 21. Do you even consider that an age difference? I don’t. After h.s. this is much less significant, the idea of 6 months making an age difference is over.

Ive enrolled in a science / buisness double degree which takes 4 years , I ‘ll be 27 when i graduate , and Im still not sure if i picked the right degree!!

sometimes i do feel old , im 23 but i look around 19 so i kinda tend to blend in most of the time lol

there are people who in in their 30’s 40’s 50’s who decide to go to uni to better their job prospects , better their career ,your not a failire , getting into uni is something a lot of people dont get to acomplish for what ever reasons.

I have a guy in my modern english grammar class who’s 40. He’s cool and teens can relate to him so I’m pretty sure they could relate to you. Plus the average college student is 25 years old.

that is pretty old. By the time I’m 23 I’ll have gotten my masters and be working on my thesis for my doctorate.
