i feel ashamed of going to community college…. help.?

i got accepted into a really good university in highschool.. but i made one of the mistakes of my life, i made the decision to go to community college thinking it’d be cheaper. so now here i am, at cc, hoping to transfer to a uni for spring 08. SIGH. i’ve applied to three schools and right now i feel like i dont have a great chance to get into any of the schools… if that happens, i might have to stay at cc to get my ADN degree. grr. i dont know what to do. HELP. i feel like i’m defined and judged by what school i graduated from..

I’ve been told that universities often prefer cc students. Did you get good grades at the cc? If so, keep trying, for more universities. If not, take another semester or two and ACE THEM, to get your GPA up; then re-apply at the universities. You should get in!

Why should you feel ashamed to be going to a community college?? YOu can look at it this way…you are preparing for your major university without paying the big bucks for it. I have a friend that is atending a “big name” university here in chicago, her tuition is about 30k a year, she has student loans up the ying yang and she’s only a sophmore. I’m in a community college in chicago and I pay nothing (seriously) my tuition books fees and supplies are ALL covered by financial aid and I will even get a refund check back in October for the extra money left over from my financial aid money. When I graduate in three years (I’m in a 3 year program) I will make a starting salary of around 55-67k a year, she will be earning much less and will probably be doing internshipps for a number of years and freelancing…all the ehile paying those student loans she is already 40k in debt and she’s ony in her second year. I’m in a commmunity college and I’m darn proud of it!!!

i’ve heard that it’s actually easier to go to top rated universities if you transfer from a community college. some universities like how you’ve had college experience and your appilcation will probably be more impressive than a high school senior’s. Anyway, even if you have to graduate from your community college, you won’t be DEFINED by it. And plus, just because you went to a cheaper school to get your education doesn’t mean you got a lower quality education. in fact, when you go to the top rated/popular universities, you are basically paying for the name, not neccessarily for the education you deserve.

i hope this helped and good luck :]
