I am considering applying early to UNC Chapel Hill. Do you think I would get accepted?
I took the SAT for the first time in June and made a 1570 without any preparation. I plan to take it again in October. I am number 11 out of 445 at the end of my junior year. I have a 3.931 cumulative unweighted GPA and a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.639. I am a member of the National Beta Club and the National Honor Society. I do volunteer work and ran cross country in 9th grade. Thanks for all the help!!!

wow that gpa is crazy high, get higher on the sat and have more acivities and you will be a slam dunk to get in.

If your SAT score is 1570 out of 1600 — then yes, you have a good shot. I would also NOT recommend taking them again. Preparatiojn would not help you — and you are more likely to actually get a lower score. I would also suggest applying to some better schools — like Duke or the Ivies. They are more expensive — but with your qualifications you might get some sort of aid.
If, on the other hand, your 1570 is our of 2400 — then you would be on the low end of applicants, and could have problems getting in under Early Admission — but would still have a shot at regular admission (especially if you are a North Carolina resident).
You are a little light on extra-curriculars. Join some clubs in your senior year.

You’ll need to do a lot better on the SAT if you want to get in there. So start studying! Applying early decision might be a good idea if you know you can get your scores up (like, in the mid-600s in each of the three areas) by the October test. However, I’d say most likely that your SAT scores will keep you out of UNC if they stay where they are. Another big factor in the admissions committee would be your success in AP or IB classes (as determined by your grades).

I don’t see why not? UNC usually accepts a high number of applicants from the state of NC so that might help too (if you’re from NC). I’d stress the extra-curricular activities as much as possible…
