I teach grad students who get this kind of job so listen to what gets said by experts.

Note that university/college choice tends to be on reputation, which reflects what a collection of people who don’t know much think about a school – and often about the athletic program. Ranking is also huge and ranking is really about how much money schools have and how rich the students are (there is a ton of literature on this if you want to go read it) so have a care in selecting a school based on reputation and ranking. You may overlook a really great school for you just because the school is not on someone’s list of ‘preferred providers’.

The research on engagement (NSSE) and learning outcomes as measured by standardized tests (GRE, LSAT, etc.) really favor small private schools as the best collegiate experience. And really, would you rather be one of 2,000 or one of 40,000 on campus?
