For instance, what do you remember better: things you’ve heard, things you’ve seen, or things you’ve read?
You may need to repeat things over and over until you remember them.
You can try reading out loud.
You can make flash cards–put the word on one side and the definition on the other.
I learn best by writing things down. In school I took notes on the chapters–I put things into my own words. Then, for a test, I would review my own notes. It’s much faster than re-reading the book.
There are lots of tricks for remembering things. If you are memorizing names of muscles and bones, think of a word it sounds like, and turn it into a story in your mind. For example, “mandible” sounds like “dribble”. People dribble water out of their jaws.
Try and link things together. If you have a list of symptoms to memorize, try and arrange them, so that the first letter forms a “word”. For example, the symptoms of diabetes are polyuria, polydipsia, weight fluctuation, and hunger.
I would arrange them like this:
Weight fluctuation
Hunger
Polyuria
Polydipsia
WHPP sounds like “whip”, so I would think, “We can whip diabetes”. That would be my clue to myself.
In short, the answer is repetition and creating patterns in your mind.
Best of luck. Don’t give up!
