Very good schools, with a very strong reputation in the industry. You’re already on the right track to prepare yourself to apply to these schools. But go ahead and check their websites. Both schools list out what they want in the portfolios of people applying to their fashion design programs, and to their other majors. You can look now, see what they want, and in that way, make sure you’re on track to have those sorts of materials. You will see, for example, that your sewing will help you. In high school, try to take every art class that your school offers, if you can. Learning how to paint and sculpt, even though it’s not directly related to fashion on the surface of the thing, actually will be really helpful. In addition, Parsons, FIT, NYU and many art schools offer summer programs for high school students. Perhaps, if you have the cash, you could participate in something like that? It’s worth check out these, and also any programs offered by reputable art schools that are nearer to where you live.
