how important is taking a sport for college?

i got accepted into my highschool of choice three days after school already started. which means that i didn’t get to sign up for any sports. (they do it before school at my highschool) i’m a freshman, and the only sports that i can take are water polo and soccer. i’m thinking about taking soccer but i don’t know if i want to. i can wait until second semester but i don’t know what will be open. so, i was just wondering how important taking a sport would be for college. thanks♥

Colleges are looking for well rounded students. Sometimes that includes athletics sometimes not. It depends whether you or not you plan to use athletics in college sometimes (play sports, scholarships,etc..), sometimes it depends on the college you wish to attend. Until you can get into a sport, if you so choose to, look into doing something else. Volunteer work, student internship with a teacher, tutoring, anything that may interest you as far as and extra-curricular, but remember that your grades are important, so don’t take on anything that will start to make your grades slip.

Let’s put things into perspective! College Sports is a racket like a big Money maker for Universities and Sports is nothing more than a Gladiator events that are sometimes used to gratify the longing of Hero’s from the past. I think College Sports are on a Pedestal and have gotten out of hand Education has taken a back seat to a College Sports. That’s why we have so much deception in the Political Arena. People are more worried about Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, Florida, USC, Texas, Penn.State, I could go on and on who is worried about turning out Scholars? Big time sports are robbing the country out of Leaders for tomorrow. Scholarships for Athletes in petty Degrees so they can play Football, Basketball and most have to have paid tutors to help them Make the Grade to play sports. Yes some people don’t agree with this but you know this is a lot of our problems sport not important Issues.

Unless you intend to major in physical education or get a sport scholarship, it means nothing, nothing at all. I got into my first-choice college, with scholarships, and participated in no sports at all in high school. If you’re not going to be a varsity star, colleges don’t car what sports you might have done in high school.

Even if you are an athlete, missing the first term of extracurricular sports, won’t even figure in what you’re looking for.
