Asking for letter of recommendation from professor twice???

Hey, i just wanted to hear some advices from you people regarding my problem. When I got my bachelors last year, I figured I might want to try out for law school, but it didn’t work out so well. I asked one professor who I took two classes with for a letter of recommendation and he gladly sent it. BUT now I changed my mind and want to pursue nursing and I need another letter! Should I ask him again? Would it be appropriate ? Any help?!

I am a professor and it would not bother me. I think we understand you are in a job search and will be pursuing multiple opportunities.

I do typically save letters so I do not have to write them from scratch, but always encourage students to let me write a personalized letter to each prospective employer. This way it is not just a form letter but has something unique to the particular place.

So go for it and good luck!

It depends on how well you knew him … if you knew him well, then yes, why not ask again? There was a professor who I asked for a letter more than once, and he had all his letters saved so it was no big deal, he just updated the one he already had. If you didn’t know him that well, think about who else you can ask … maybe someone who taught a class more related to what you want to do.

I believe sending the professor an email and in the event that they take too long to respond (say each and every week) bypass by the dep. to get his/her place of work hours. I had a professor from my sophomore 3 hundred and sixty 5 days write a suggestion for me. determine the recommender is somebody who’s attentive to you and additionally you artwork ethic; somebody who can vouch for the type you will do in graduate college.

yeah! go ahead! I always hit up my teachers for multiple letters for different things, just make an office appointment, then go in and explain, and i’m sure things will be fine… they usually like to help out students, unless you had a conflict with them..

Probably you might want to ask another professor if there is another you can ask. If not, explain the situation candidly to this professor and he may be understanding. Professors probably have many requests such as yours, so it probably seems more significant to you than it may to him.
