-Stay after class to talk about something they mentioned in class that you thought was interesting
-drop by his/her office durring office hours to say hi or even ask a question about an assignment
-say hello when you see them in the hall
It’s important to build up a relationship because you may need letters of recommendation in the future–the more they feel connected to you then that much better the letter will be.
I’m in college & doing field work in a high-school with teenagers and looking at it from a point of a teacher at times it can be a bit difficult to get to know all of your students or even a chance to chat with each of them like you would like. When students initiate conversation I love it although I’m usually the one to spark up conversation.

5. Do the assigned readings, and ask about the reading.
Don’t think of him as this huge and terrifying figure – he’s just a person, like you. Talk to him like you would anybody on the street.
