How can an entry-level massage therapist(w/ little experience other than school)create an eye-catching resume?
I’m interested in hearing from recent graduates/newbie massage therapists: How would you advise a new massage therapist to create a great resume, particularly when they have little work experience? Would filling your resume with volunteer work be a good idea?

Good question.
Yes, if your resume looks a little thin, by all means add your volunteer experience.

Pretty much every resume should be one page. You should only be listing things that are pertinent to the job you’re applying for. A resume is an overview, a sales tool, it’s not a complete accounting of everything you’ve ever done. A GPA doesn’t mean a lot to an employer. Save it for the interview if they seem to be interested in exact numbers. Some of the other things can be mentioned in the cover letter. A potential employer is giving your resume a 10-second glance. What are the most important things you want them to see?

Start by volunteering your services…nursing and retirement communities, hospitals, even some special education programs would welcome your services. Just be very honest about your level of experience going in and be sure to track what you do. Even get letters from people that you worked with and on and ask to use the program co-ordinators as references.
