You need to make it relevant to you. One way is to think of times when you’ve also done or experienced something that you read about in the textbooks. We make things familiar by personalizing them. Law is easier than other studies as it is based around human activity. Mathematics are much harder as they move far away from human behavior. Some people have tried to make it easier to learn to return human behavior into mathematics… i.e. You have three apples, and your brother eats one apple, how many apples do you have left?

Read with a pen/pencil in hand and underline everything that is important. Write comments and short summaries in the margins. This will make your reading more active and if you have to study for a test, you will also have a better source of information than you did before you marked the book.

Repetition definitley. Also, it has been proven the more senses you use, the better chance you will remember something. For example, While during a lecture, if you listened, took notes, watched the instructor, and repeated everything to yourself, you would remember the lesson better than if you were just listening.

I laugh at this…..cause I can so relate….I read and catch my self thinking about something else and then I read and catch myself thinking about trying not to think about something else…So funny..
