Having trouble finding a Nursing program…help please!?

I’m currently living in Madison, WI. I’m attending the local community college this fall taking some liberal arts courses.

I’m extremely interested in Nursing, and believe that’s what I want to pursue. I want to start a program right away. The local community college has a 3 year waiting list just for the associate degree (whereas I’d like to get my bachelors), and UW Madison accepts a limited number every year.

I want to find a program that’s fairly inexpensive (<15k/yr) and that I can get into right away so I can finish in 4 years. I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs in the area, or even possibly in Minnesota or Illinois. I had looked at Illinois Wesleyan because they offer a direct admission into their nursing program, but they rarely allow transfers into the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone thinks that there is a large shortage of nurses, which is true, but the problem is that there is a large shortage of nursing teachers. It is like that everywhere. I live in Michigan, and have not even been accepted into the program. I must apply in my last semester of completing my prereq’s. There is already a year and a half wait today, and I will not be applying until next year. It sucks, and I am not sure what I am going to do.
