Graduate School-Biological Sciences?

Hi!

I’m a senior, wanting to apply to graduate school for Fall 2008. I’m been browsing the internet looking for programs where I can go to graduate school, earn a PhD, and working in a clinical setting. I don’t want to be one of those people that tests medication on people (my adviser already suggested that). I heard that if I earn a PhD in pathology, I can work with physicians in treating a patient. I am going to apply to those programs, but I also wonder if anyone has any ideas or are currently in jobs like those. What other kinds of degrees can I earn and still work in a clinical setting. (I don’t want to be a lab tech either).

I’m a terrible test taker because I have huge anxiety attacks when I take them, so my grades aren’t the best, but it is a 3.something. Are there programs that have high acceptance rates, so that if I unfortunately don’t get accepted into the program of my choice, I have something that I can fall back on?

Thanks!

Are you talking about pathologists as in the physicians who examine the causes and development of disease? Because that requires a medical degree. If you want to go for that career track, you have to take the MCAT and then get admitted into medical school.

Some other options: you could go into medical research and that way you can continue on the biological sciences by getting a PhD in that field. Or you could become a physician assistant. they have special programs of their own that are different from medical school. to view a list of accredited programs, go to www.arc-pa.org/Acc_Programs/acc_programs.html

I hope this is of some help!
