Good books for learning Ancient Greek?

I’m looking to teach myself some Greek. I’m currently at a community college with the intent to transfer to a university. I am seeking a degree in classics, but Greek isn’t offered around here. I am generally good with languages, so I’d like to give it a shot without a teacher. Can anyone recommend a good textbook from which to learn?

I’m using the Greek to GCSE series by John Taylor. It has two sections, and even if you’re not taking a GCSE course specifically, it lays down a good foundation for the language even in the first book.

It’s laid out into grammar points, short exercises and translations, and I find it very convenient if I don’t have much time to study. Although it doesn’t have answers to the questions, that didn’t prove much of an obstacle and both books have a good dictionary.

I bought it from Amazon (I’m not sure if it’s in stores) and I’m not sure, but the series might continue past GCSE.
