Finding a graduate school with a strong joint math and computer science department (cryptography)?
I’m currently doing work to find good programs for graduate schools in math and computer science. I’d idealistically like a school that has a strong correlation between the two programs. My fields of interests are cryptography, graph theory, number theory, and artificial intelligence.
I’m limited to schools within the United States and would prefer going to somewhere in the midwest or northern regions. I’m unsure if I just want to pursue a Master’s or a full PhD, and I’m unsure of which type of actual degree (math or comp sci) I’m looking for.
Any help on previous experiences on breaking into cryptography or math-heavy computer science would be a great asset as well as any recommended schools to check out.
Many thanks.

i’m at present doing a working laptop or pc technology degree, and that i’ve got 2 modules in arithmetic alongside the computing ones. the math you would be able to desire to do isn’t too complicated to be hassle-free! there is obviously the basics including binary, hexadecimal, and a small little bit of octal(!), those are for obtrusive motives because of the fact it is how a working laptop or pc operates. there is likewise a important area in differentiation and integration (i will’t keep in mind what for), there’s a important area, additionally, in statistics (for networking, the possibilities of a community occurring and so on.). previously I went to college, I had a B in arithmetic at GCSE, I executed a BTEC national degree in ICT (which taught me little maths), then went to uni and that’s the place i’m now (doing my exams interior the 1st year), i’ve got at present found out the math required now, i’m basically being examined on it. My suggestion: decide for it; the worst that would desire to ensue is after 12 months (or maybe in the 1st few weeks of the course in case you sense you’re that undesirable at it), in case you sense you’re failing, you could replace course (to maybe a working laptop or pc technology proper degree, that isn’t so heavy on the computing and maths area (maybe employer Computing).
