Do you think a “two-inch heel shoes” for female college students is right?

In my university, female students are required to wear shoes with two-inch heels. However, many students complain that it is not right because of its health hazard in the foot, not to mention the slippery floor in one campus and the fact that you need to walk up a hill or mountain in another campus.

Actually, I support the female students in this issue. How about you? Do you agree or disagree with this rule? And if it’s possible, could you supply some proof that will show the health hazards of a two-inch heel shoe worn everyday?

Doctors warn against high heels for women, as they can lead to bunions, heel pain, toe deformities, shortened Achilles tendons, and trapped nerves, as well as lower back pain.

I don’t know what country you live in, but I’ve never heard of this.

Usually college and work site dress codes as a general rule state that heels can’t be any higher than two inches. I’m not sure that a college can require women to wear strictly two inch heels. I think it’s a maximum. And for the very reasons you mention. They don’t want a law suit if someone wearing four inch heels trips down the stairs.

And if you’re for real and there is this requirement have some female students protest by falling down stairs and triping on the walk way and sue the pants off the university.

Well this would be because not all Christians have the same convictions. It also depends on the denomination as to how they will most likely dress. I happen to understand what you are talking about and agree that some Christians both male and female need to dress more appropriately. What you must understand is that not everyone in America that professes Christ is in reality a Christian, and if they are some may not realize that their way of dressing is not honoring to God. Unfortunately the culture has managed to get into the Church more than the Church has managed to get into the culture. May God richly bless you and always remember that the process of sanctification is a long one that none of us ever finishes until we reach heaven.

I am in NY- we wear sneakers, mostly (unless we have plans after school, in which case we wear high heels)- basically.

This is insane- I can’t imagine running around campus from financial aid to my advisor to class in heels. It is bad for your back and uncomfortable. These women should start showing up in clean, professional ballet flats and nothing else. Professional dress is fine, but it should be reasonable- clean, neat work-wear like slacks and button downs or skirts and blouses. This is INSANE!

Talk about trying to shackle women.

Yeah – if that’s a maximum it’s reasonable, but as a minimum it sounds ridiculous.
