This is the time when you should stop listening to people who are not helpful. You’re 22, you are allowed to do what you want, so stop asking your cousin, and if she insist on offering her advise gently cut her off by saying “thank you for yur opinion but I’ve made my decision”.

What she is doing is called “projecting”. She feels that if she were in your place she would have failed. But that’s her, not you. She is a different person with different brain and different skills.

Having a GED is not necessarily a detractor if you wish to pursue an academic career. In fact, Former mayor of Chicago, Harold Washington, Was a GED graduate. Furthermore, I say don’t let your cousins thoughts on the subject dissuade you in any way from what you want to achieve. Although your cousin may be attempting to help protect you from disappointment, you will never know how far you advance in life if you never try because of some perceived shortcoming.

Gee (GED grad)

of course you can if you get good enough grades. uc berkeley, which is one of the top 10 universities in the country, accepts community college transfers.
