It was very hard to get in. As for interviews they asked me quite tricky problems. I remember there were some questions about game theory, environmental economics, the Euro and market equilibrium as well as some stuff about derivatives and curves for economics. My philosophy interview was about ethics mainly. Implications of utilitarianism under various scenarios, moral differences between situations and so forth. Can’t really remember much about my politics interview. Think there was something about distribution of power, Keynesian influence on politics and Eastern Europe role in International Relations. English universities make you focus more on a particular subject or subjects. You apply for a particular subject so in effect you declare a major before you get there. So I’m not sure you would get such specific questions at a US university interview, although I may be wrong about that.
Being English I took A-levels and AS levels which won’t mean anything to you. My American friends had to do very well in their SATs and they also had to take a few APs as well. I think the required grade for APs was 5 (hope that means something to you). If you are interested in applying look up the subject you want to study i the under grad prospectus (go to www.ox.ac.uk). Where it asks for A-levels and As levels in certain subjects take those as APs.
Best of luck ^_^
