Do some college courses feel sort of like high school classes to you?

Yeah, cartoons in the workbooks sounds pretty childish. LoL Oh well. Look where it took you though. A B.A. in Spanish and a minor in German. Not too shabby I’d say.
As for college being a more somber place. I disagree. I think it should be what it is. Since students are young adults, it needs to remain open to giving the student the freedom to make adult decisions and express opinions. It’s much freer than high school I think, because adults are expected to “choose” the path of higher learning, unlike teens who, in many cases, would rather choose the path of least resistance. LoL
College should be harder than high school, but there’s no reason for it to be more solemn. If learning can be done at a rapid pace, with “fun” materials, that’s fine.
I do have concerns that a lot of the modern textbooks for science courses have way too many pictures and colored boxes, and are generally too wordy. I think sometimes these bits intended to help students are actually distracting.
Or you could just frown at the cartoons.
I think the cartoons come from the philosophy that post-laterization second language learning should be interactive, engaging, communicative.
I’m sorry those cartoons pissed you off so much.
No one pays attention, and the whole damn college is a joke.
