Could you give me tips on applying to Grad School?
Just so you know I’m totally ignorant about this so please explain to me like I’m an absolute noob. To make it even more interesting I am applying for the Air Force officer program but now it’s a possiblity they may not take me because of psychological issues. So I am uncertain at this point about that next step I wanted to get into, so now I want to at least research and get familiar with the grad school process. Maybe list some first few steps that people getting in the water would do.
So far I’ve been told I can
– prepare a personal statement
– try to figure out what program I want
Still, any advice from anyone experienced in this would be much appreciated. Lay it on me and don’t be shy. Thank you. The school I’m probably determined and feel I will go to is USC or bust.

You did not mention if you’ve already finished your bachelor’s program. If you’re still finishing up, talk to a professor in one of your current classes about working on a research paper to polish up to include in your application. Preferably, the paper will be on a topic of interest that you’ll plan to pursue more in graduate school. Since you aren’t sure which type of program, choose a broad topic that can be discussed im various fields of study. For example, I once wrote a paper in a communications course on presidential debates. I submitted the paper to both a political science program and a history program. I ended up in the history program.
Good luck to you and I hope this helps!
