College degree question…..?

I have more than 100 credits from three universities. They are very old…from the 70’s and 80’s. I am a successful executive now, but the lack of a degree has held me back lately for some really big jobs.

I am looking for the quickest, legitimate, accredited way to get a degree. Not a mill, but someone who will take all my credits, military experience, whatever, and let me finish in a year or less even.

Funny, but I would think this would be a great money maker for some small university as there are thousands of people like me.

Thanks,

Mike

Actually, unlike the other poster, I’d suggest you avoid the U of Phoenix. So many employers actively dislike this school, and will not hire its graduates, that I can not recommend it or Devry, or Strayer, or Kaplan, or AIU, or ITT, or…

Most reputable universities won’t offer a bachelor’s degree with only a year or so worth of credits on their campus because they’d lose their accreditation if they did so. You have to complete a certain number of credits with them, at their school, before they can graduate you. And most won’t accept your old classes as transfer credits because they are too old, and that theory is likely out of date, if you even remember it at all. However, they will often allow you to take exams to see if the knowledge you hold in certain subjects is equivalent to any of their classes, and give you credit for those, so that will certainly help.

Actually, I think your best best is to look at universities in your region, and try to find those that offer “accelerated degree” programs for adults. These often allow you to do a bachelor’s in about two years, or a bit less, (timing depends on how many classes you test out of, etc.) and they can be more flexible in terms of testing out of classes/transfer credits than other schools. And they do tend to be reputable. These programs are usually found at the smaller private colleges in your area. For example, here in NY metro such programs exist at St. Peter’s College, Dominican College, and Nyack College (all of which, btw, are Catholic… so I wonder if any of the small, private, religious colleges near you may offer similar?) You’d want to check the websites of your local schools, as well as call their admissions offices to discuss, specifically, if they offer accelerated degree programs for working adults.

I had credits from the 80’s and 90’s. When I went back to college they told me that my credits were no longer any good after 10 yrs. because education minimums have change. I was able to test out of a lot of classes and got credits for my military training and life experience. Good luck check with you local University.

The only thing I can think of that you could get with your credits, is maybe a general ed. degree…unless all your credits were towards a specific major/minor and those classes are still legit towards that degree today, then I think thats’ all you’re going to be able to get. Unless you’re missing just a few credits towards that area, and just take a few classes at a junior college and finish up with your AA.

The best thing to do, would be to talk to a counselor there on campus, and see what they have to say.

I would think the credits are too old and would not meet todays requirements. But who knows, call your local community college, they should know what would transfer to a 4 year college, or take your transcripts into a councelor at the college you want (try Univ of Phoenix)

i think of it relies upon on what degree you have and/or how committed and passionate you’re approximately succeeding in in spite of that is you desire to do. There are learn which practice that having an education a great deal improves ones existence and the existence of their destiny families yet i think of you will discover that there is a hell of alot of human beings working in telemarketing that have a school degree. additionally there alot of human beings in severe powered jobs of their industry who have been given there by an internship or menial job on the backside and made it in keeping with dedication and perseverance. individually i think of working your way up by an industry proves you desire to do it extra beneficial than somebody that studied it at uni. And on a similar time as having an education can strengthen your existence as you’re extra conscious of the excellent issues interior the international and are much less probably to be biased or racist in spite of lack of wisdom can each each now and then be bliss. each each now and then having an information of the international in user-friendly terms makes you extra conscious of the injustices of it after which you bypass around being annoyed at politics etc fairly than playing the small yet extraordinary issues on your guy or woman existence. so in answer on your question i think of a school degree will in user-friendly terms make a distinction to three peoples lives in keeping with their concern-unfastened outlook and in the event that they have a occupation in strategies the place that is unquestionably had to have a level. Or in the event that they’re content fabric to be an academic and their choose in existence is to continuously learn.
