College! Any advice is appreciated?

I am moving out tomorrow, and I am really nervous. Does anyone have any advice? Or good stories? I have no idea what it’s going to be like!

Make a plan to get involved. Make a list of things to do/see/eat/experience during your first semester, and they had better be things that are new to you.

Schedule your study time, and schedule play time – it is important to play.

Eat breakfast – the most important meal of the day, and it gets you up early.

Exercise – fear the first year fifteen.

Some people love the college experience some can’t handle it. I think it’s a really great experience and everyone should go not for the education but to live amoungst your peers in that setting is really a once in a lifetime experience. Just remember everyone there is dealing with the same issues you are. It isn’t until you’re an upperclassman that you realize how anxious the freshman class is, and it’s all of them not just you.

The heights by great men reached and kept

Were not attained by sudden flight

But they, while their companions slept,

Were toiling upward in the night!

Work hard. Stay focused (…look what can happen when you focus light through a magnifying glass onto a dry leaf! Focus can make something warm become much more powerful…). Make sure you stay happy. :o) Set goals. Never give up.

Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,

But he with a chuckle replied

That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one

Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.

So he buckled right in with a bit of a grin

On his face. If he worried he hid it.

He started to sing as he tackled the thing

That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;

At least no one ever has done it”;

But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,

And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,

Without any doubting or quiddit,

He started to sing as he tackled the thing

That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,

There are thousands to prophesy failure;

There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,

The dangers that wait to assail you.

But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin,

Just take off your coat and go to it;

Just start to sing as you tackle the thing

That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.

Good luck! :o)

Stay focused on why you’re there – be true to yourself – choose your friends wisely. Good luck in school!
