Since you are only 16 it is not impossible for you to get on the right path toward earning a medical degree; however, the course you are on right now isn’t it. A Medical Assistant is a step up from being a Nursing Assistant, which is the lowest position in health care.

If you a serious about pursuing a career in medicine then you are going to have to accept that you need to get serious about your education. There are no short cuts, back doors or easy ways to get anything in medicine.

As a Medical Assistant you will be able to work in a physician’s office, learn some basic skills and begin interacting with patients. With some exposure to the various ailments, maybe you’ll become interested in other medical careers such as medical technology (lab tech), respiratory therapy, nursing or any number of other allied health professions. But anything you do is going to require formal education and training. Some may be just a year long program at a community college. Some may be 2 to four years to obtain certification.

The fact that you dropped out of school is not a barrier to you pursuing anything you want–including a MD. Contrary to what you may have been told, an admission committee would view your dropping out and climbing your way back as a sign of strength and capability and would actually make you a stronger candidate.

You owe it to yourself to become educated about the realities of what it takes to become a physician. The Association of American Medical Colleges have answered just about every question a potential medical student can ask on their web site: http://www.aamc.org/

There are so many career options in health care that are not physician level. You need to come to terms with what is attracting you to health care, how strong your convictions are and make an objective assessment of your capabilities. Fooling yourself will only result in a waste of money on an education you won’t complete–and that will not make you feel good about yourself. You may want to contact an academic advisor at a local college to help you through that process.

First off, go get your GED. Then enroll in a community college and get kick *** grades. Take science classes. Biology, Physics, Chemistry and some math won’t hurt.

Start preparing to take The SAT or ACT. Your score on these tests are heavily scrutinized upon application to med school.

Unfortunately Med school is very competitive, so the better your GPA while in college the better off you’ll be. The fact that you dropped out of school might hurt you some but not if you get really good grades and excell where ever you go.

It’s not easy but it’s certainly not impossible! Go after your Dream! If you really want it you’ll get there.

the degreee could actually help you get into med school….just make sure you have the prerequisites for the schools you apply to

since you dropped out of high school, they’ll probably look on you more favourably if you finish the degree youre working on first
