can anyone tell me about the vocal performance major at Keene State and UNH, both in New Hampshire?
Favorite Answer
* Perform from memory two songs of different styles, at least one being classical
* Sight singing
* Vocalizing on scales and arpeggios
UNH:
Voice: 1 Italian aria, preferably from the 24 Italian Songs & Arias of the 17th & 18th Century anthology, and 1 English Art Song. Be prepared to sight read and sing back 3 and 4 note patterns.
I can say that neither of these audition requirements are very stringent – probably not the most difficult (or prestigious) program to get into. This could be good or bad, depending on what you’re looking for…
I can tell you, if you’re planning on vocal performance, and are talented enough to pull it off, you should be going for the best schools. Here’s Eastman’s audition requirements:
BM
Three pieces in varying musical styles, in three different languages, one of which may be English. Non-native speakers of English must perform one piece in English.
See the difference?
Good luck.
