Can a person get two accredited MBAs?

I’m an MBA student at a legitimate, accredited university. One of my classmates in a core class claimed that she already has an MBA in accounting from a different school but is going back for another MBA in public administration. Would the school admit her as an MBA candidate if she already has one? And why would she have to take core classes again?

Thanks in advance. –EBV

Yes for sure she can go for a second MBA. A lot of students the world over go to ivy league schools for their second MBAs. I know for a fact that a high percentage of Indian students admitted in ivy league schools such as Wharton, LBS, Harvard etc have already got an MBA from a school India and use the second MBA to get an international perspective.

Yes, some of the core classes would be repeat. But then again, management education is so dynamic that it might not be such a bad idea!

She would only have to take the core classes again if the first MBA was several years ago. For some colleges that would be 7 years, for some 10 years, longer for other schools.

I think some schools might admit her again, others wouldn’t.

I’m sure the school would admit her if she is willing to pay. I have no idea why she would be taking the core classes again, maybe she just wants to, or the school says the hours are too old. Some people can be quite full of themselves, perhaps she’s exaggerating a tad.
