Are there student loans that you can get with bad credit?

Absolutely. But your best bet will be loans done through your university. Basically, the university vouches for you and says “she’s good for the money because she is pursuing a degree”. Most of the time these are government loans.

But you will need to go through your Universities financial aid office and give a legitimate declaration of your true expenses. They won’t give you credit for things that are not necessities. They calculate based on what a normal student needs to live on.

I suggest you get to know your financial adviser at your school. It’s a lot of paper work, but they know what to do 🙂

All the best!

You can fill out the FAFSA and get government loans. It’s best to do this as early as January. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ Also, contact your school. They generally hand out financial aid in the spring time but some departments are required to give out scholarships before December and wait until later in the year. That’s how I got a scholarship through playing in orchestra. There were no other students in the spring in the orchestra and then a bunch of us joined in the fall and then the scholarship was given to two of us.

Students who are looking for a bad credit student loan should pick three schools they are most interested in, talk to the admissions office, and ask what is needed to apply in their school.A bad creditdepending on whether you are a homeowner or not. The rate of interest to be paid on unsecured bad credit student loans is higher than that on secured bad credit student loans. This is because the secured bad credit student loans are backed by your home as a security.
