You can start off your essay by talking about world history … about how, in many cases, citizens of a country have emigrated because of the injustices occurring in their state of residence. Maybe you could start like this…
“Throughout history, there have corrupt leaders, unethical laws, and mere immorality. In every country in the world, at least some of the citizens have been unhappy with the way their government works. What can one do when rebellion is out of the question? In seventeenth century England, many people were dissatisfied with their lives. Eventually, a large number of them emigrated to North America, which was what they called the “New World.” The English tried to escape harassment in England because they were exhausted by the monarchy’s abusive ways, and they wanted both religious freedom and more economic opportunity.”
Haha, that was actually fun. I love writing essays.
See how that worked? You start with a generalized statement, and work your way to the specifics. Your thesis statement is at the end of the paragraph, which leads you in to your essay…
Good luck!
Freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom from the tyranny ways of the monarchy. These were the main reasons the English colonist tried to flee and seek areas for a better life
and then finish the paragraph with how your going to support these claims : ] have fun
