While technically I suppose you could do it, some of the concepts in Chemistry draw directly from skills you learned in Algebra. (For example, balancing chemical equations and ox-redox reactions.)

I didn’t do it, and I’d recommend you not try it either.

I wouldn’t recommend it, because chemistry uses ALOT of algebra. Plus, take a college level chemistry class like AP chemistry without taking algebra 1 or chemistry 1 is pretty much a guarantee for failure, unless you’re a genius. Again, I really wouldn’t recommend it. There’s a reason why there’s prerequisites for classes. You can’t do nearly as good on chemistry 1 with no algebra experience as the students who did have algebra experience.

There is little to no math in organic, some in biochem and genetics tho. If your taking an intro to chemistry (not organic or biochem) there is tons of basic algebra. The math is not hard but a brush up could be all the difference.
