Going pre-med, what to major in?

I’m currently applying to the Ohio State University and plan on going pre-med. I realize that this is not a major, but am wondering what to have my major as. I’d rather not have it as chemistry. I know biology is an option, but other ideas that have stood out to me (I am unsure if these are even valid majors for pre-med, they just made sense to me) are Health Sciences program, Medical Technology, and Biochemistry. Any input on what to do?

All of those would be okay as long as you have your science courses.

You can major in ANYTHING you want. A lot of med schools look for people with diverse backgrounds. It might actually be an advantage to be a music major or english major in a sea of bio and chem majors. The key component to being pre med is to take the pre req courses. This is usually 1 year of general chem, 1 year of organic chem, 1 year of general bio, and a second year of some other biology. You also need pre calc in math. Thats it, well that and a good MCAT score

Check the website for the school you are planning on going to. You will most likely need chem classes, organic chemistry, biology, calculus, etc. You need to complete these prerequisites, but you can major in anything you like.
