Another math problem?

I need to work backwards. Donna had some pens. She traded 4 pencils for each pen. She found 2 more pencils. She put 2/3 of her pencils in her pocket and gave the rest to her teacher. 5 pencils were stolen from her pocket. If she had 7 pencils left, how many pens did she have to begin with?

She had 4 pens in the beginning.

She traded the 4 pens for 16 pencils,

Then found 2, making her total 18

She gave her teacher 6 and kept 12 in her pocket.

I hope this is the answer you looking for.

Well I’m normally absolute pants at this and yet the number 4 seems to be screaming at me!
