Am I safe in assuming that most college dorm rooms have a microwave or microwave access?
It’s been a long time since the dorm room with the “hot pot”, and if I am sending a care package to a college freshman, is it safe to assume they have access to a microwave to cook soup, or noodles – in – a -carton, popcorn, etc? And are homemade cookies still welcome? thanks for any input!

usually one of the roommates will have brought a microwave, or if they don’t have one in the room, there is almost always one in a kitchen somewhere in the building or on the floor. odds are that someone on the floor has one, too.
cookies are ALWAYS welcome. even if the student doesn’t eat them, they make great bribes for the techie that comes to fix the computer

Most colleges don’t supply a microwave, but chances are that one of the roommates brought one.
Cookies are always wonderful! Also, hot chocolate/coffee/tea, money always works, or a gift card to a fast food/sit down restaurant in the area are great!

Most kids go to the local Wal-Mart and drop $30 on a microwave. Even if they didn’t buy one, there is usually one on their floor or they have a friend in their dorm with one. Only things not allowed in dorms are burners, George forman grills, toasters, crock pots, etc.

Yes, but they probably won’t have a microwave in their room, but at least one on their floor or their wing of the dorm.
