Alpha Kappa Alpha Graduate Membership??

Is it more difficult pursuing graduate membership? I would love to pursue graduate membership of Alpha Kappa Alpha, however it seems to be harder than pursuing undergraduate membership. I will be graduating in a year and may have to.I really love the sorority and wish to become a member, I just want to know what others think about pursuing graduate membership.

Hello Lovely,

I am currently an undergraduate member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and I have a friend who had the same problem. She applied every year to be a member and was not accepted as an undergrad and she is currently seeking membership at the Graduate level. At the Graduate level you must be invited to membership by a current active member of the chapter that you wish to be affiliated with. It is much easier to receive that invite if you are already close friends with a member of the Graduate Chapter you are interested in or if you are Legacy. If you aren’t selected for membership at the undergrad level this year, you should begin to make contacts with sorority members in the area that you will pursue Graduate membership with. Go to the events. That is the first step in making sure that members of the Graduate chapter know who you are so that they can consider you for membership. Be active, be positive, and be a representative of dignity, intelligence, and beauty inside and out, these qualities will make you an attractive candidate. Good luck & God bless.

Fabulous!
I am not a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha but I think what you are asking is dependent on the chapters you are pursuing. From what I have learned most undergraduate chapters have membership intake more frequently than graduate chapters, which may be why some think it is more difficult pursuing graduate membership and then it is by invitation only. My suggestion is to become involved in your community (if you’re not already) and attend events hosted by the graduate chapter in your area. Good luck with your pursuits.

From what I unquestionably have study, you could seek for activities on the graduate financial disaster website and start up attending. The graduate financial disaster in my area does not have an operational website, so i’m contained in a similar boat.
