Alpha Kappa Alpha Graduate Chapter?

I am a recent college graduate and I am highly interest in becoming an AKA. After researching the organization, I believe in all that it stands for. What really made me love this organization is the fact that everyone who helped my in my transition from high school to college were AKA’s. They took me in with open arms, and that alone can make a person want to be apart of such a legacy. But that’s not the only reason for my interest. I am located in the Chicago area where the Alpha Kappa Alpha headquarters is located. Even after undergrad I still want to become apart of this organization. I will be the first in my family to go on this journey and any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Are there any members with any advice on how to become apart of this organization?

Membership in the grad chapter is by invitation only. A good way to get noticed by members is to get involved with community service. Attend any functions they may have. Contacting a grad chapter in your area may also help.

Fabulous!
I am not a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha but I would start by searching for chapters in Chicago by going to aka1908.com or by googling it. If the chapter has a website then you will be able to find out about events the chapter is hosting so you will be able to become aquainted with the members. Remember graduate membership into the sorority is by invitation only, so work hard! Good luck.

I wouldn’t suggest going up to someone you didn’t know telling that you want to become a member, but if you know someone personally maybe confine in them. As you know graduate chapter are by invitation only so it does help to know someone. Also, about the events, request information from their office. Maybe check for a website. I am almost certain, that there are events being held because if there wasn’t there wouldn’t be a need for the chapter. All in All, contact the office directly. If you need help on doing this, please feel free to email me.

um.. er.. not really. it all about your undergrad experience. if you don’t do that you can’t really understand what it’s all about. i know it’s too late, but you should’ve joined as an undergraduate..

the alumni chapters are only open for alumni..

there is a tiny chance you could get some desk job for AKA corporate, but that will be hard as well since they will give preference to alumni.

the only thing you can do is spread the word about aka to any youngsters you think would be a good fit.

sorry but the saying is true.. it’s a once in a lifetime experience…
